4 Tips To Stay Current With The Latest Trends

Stay Current with the Latest Trends-Find your Platform

For some of us, staying current with the latest trends, grooves, brands, or lifestyles is a perplexing phenomenon. And if you’re like the old me, you probably don’t care what the current trend is. Well, the new me has a changed perspective. I now choose to get updates on everything that’s going on and try my best to stay current –but of course only on things that are useful and helpful to my growth.

But listen to this. I am not emboldening that you need to follow every trend –whether good or bad because unbelievably there are some tendencies that I don’t think a professional or business persona should follow. You must be vigilant in what trends you want to stay focused on. You only want to tailgate what could help you grow, benefit your community, increase your net value, or change society for the better.

Facebook

I took a break from all social media avenues, particularly Facebook, sometime this year to focus on my graduate degree. Well I needed that. But when I got back to Facebook, it was almost like trying to figure out how to use a new invention! I had no clue how to even use the everyone-has-a-live-video-going-on platform. Forget about all the live-videos. But surprisingly enough, it helps me stay current with all new hubs, social groups, trends, and millennial movements in Haiti.

Instagram

I have been using the gram –only to post photos since I used to be a woman of few words. It’s not just the picture posting that interested me – the sub-platform has also created a movement in the digital world. Though I must be honest with you, the customized promotions – tailored based on your browsing – can be annoying at times! But, they can easily land you to clothing sites that are the perfect fit your style (yeah it happens). There’s only a subtle difference between the face and the gram. And it’s OK if you’re not a member of any of them. As long as you ponder on something to give you quick updates on what interests you the most.

Yes, You can Stay Away

Let me make it simple, you have the right to stay away from the crowd, but just make sure you’re not in the dark of what could possibly help you, that you’re not aware of, simply because you want to stay away from the public eye. Don’t make this argument counterintuitive. Just find your platform, find your tune, find your interest –from fashion to politics, wellness to lifestyle, you will find something that moves you and interests you enough to follow through. If you’re like my good friend Junior, you will always have a phone on your ears listening to the latest visits of President Jovenel in Haiti and watching CNN on the latest shooting in Vegas simultaneously.

Find your Tune and Stay in the loop

So it’s not entirely bad to stay away from the media. Just find your niche and try to stay updated. Nonetheless, I am glad that I got reconnected and connected with some very important folks that I’ve been dying to get in touch with. Not only that, I get to recognize the work of some amazing individuals (who are shaping the future as we speak) through social media. I don’t like posting photos, but I’m there low-key, following only on subjects that will push me to climb to the top and stay on the top–because I don’t follow what has no meaning or value to me.
