ABOUT THE FOUNDER
A fanatic and devotee of Haiti, after earning her Master’s degree in August 2017, Wid’ pulled out her to-do list -she has been cultivating since 2013 when she moved back to Haiti- and started 4better.com. Wid’ does not follow the mainstream model of usual and typical woman. She is a change-maker who strives to make a difference by using various means available within and outside her reach. She is not afraid of taking risks if for the right reason. She is content with all life has to offer (just like Paul as directed us to be Phil 4:11) and make the best out of any circumstance. She does not just live, but thrive to be better day-by-day.
She is a woman of character who loves to smile and hang out with her close-knit friends. When she speaks, you would think she is just your average educated woman, but when you get to know her, you will discover so much more. She enjoys reading about things completely outside of her field of work and studies. This woman makes life and academia seems so easy and she has the ability to lift other’s spirits by just being herself. With her ability to communicate in four different languages, she has no barriers in getting her points across. She likes talking about herself in third person just because she thinks she’s not the suited person to write her bio!
ABOUT THE EDITOR
Cindy is an optimist, who puts her faith foremost in God. Through all the internal and external battles she’s had to face, Cindy pushes through by the strength of the Almighty God. Even to be our Editor was a divine leading. She also gives credit to her “encourager”. But truth be told, Cindy has always had Haiti on her mind. Which is what led her to a NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) Conference in Indianapolis one spring 2013 weekend.
Cindy’s long-term goal, as outlined in her Undergraduate Senior Thesis, is to one day meaningfully impact the education system in Haiti by empowering the student. Her short-term goal is to mobilize Haitian NSBE members to consider the idea of bringing NSBE, a student-led organization of rising STEM professionals, to Haiti. Although these goals have not yet been realized, being Editor – for Cindy – is a positive step in the direction of the future she one day hopes to see.
Cheers to growth!
