Build Your Mental Muscles, Live A Healthy And Happy Life
We live in an era that is filled with difficulties, challenges and many battles to fight. We face ongoing stressful situations that could potentially derail our happiness and weaken our strength. How do we handle those challenges and sustain a happy life in the midst of it all? I’m glad you asked. It is essential to building mental muscles! My top habits in maintaining my mental health are as follows:
- Watch my favorite shows. I have no cable in my apartment, but HULU always has my favorite shows. I don’t let the difficulties stop me from freeing my mind. I watch countless shows even when it seems as if I have no time. While I’m watching the show, I forget about my problems.
- Call my best-friend. I have very few people I happen to call “friends”. So I call them when I have good news to share, or when I’m sad. I find that having people on your team, who have your best interests in mind, makes the world a brighter place.
- Stay consistent in my hobbies. Just because I’m going through uphill battles does not mean I need to abandon my favorite pastimes. I certainly stick to my reading regardless of how sick I am with a problem. Don’t let life’s circumstances drag you down into a hole of hopelessness – live above them.
- Pray. My favorite! I was actually listening to a sermon recently where the pastor encourages that you engage in a spiritual activity when you feel weak. If you can’t pray, try to sing some praise or worship songs. If you can’t sing, do some break-dances over your favorite gospel song. Don’t forget, praising is praying twice. Just remember, don’t pray without faith. You don’t want to plant a seed if you know nothing will grow from it.
- Stay focused. Very important. Yes I know it’s hard. Desperate times call for desperate measures. But don’t focus on the present. Think instead of the long-term opportunities. What doesn’t kill you makes you better, stronger. Sometimes, it is required for you to go through diverse types of trials simply to build you up. Something bigger and greater will come from the suffering, and in due time, but certainly not without faith.
Cheers to a better and healthier you!
