Meet Jonhny Homelus: Helping Haitians Take Full Responsibility Of Their Personal And Professional Growth
There are many new trends in Haiti, and some refuse to stand by the atrocities of the country but to move forward and help the next generation to take full responsibility for their personal and professional growth.
Jonhny Homelus is a Life and Business coach hoping to influence 10 million Haitians in Haiti and abroad. This week, we have the opportunity to share with you his journey and aspirations as an Influencer and Coach.
Please introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Jonhny Homelus, born and raised in Haiti. My mother was from Jeremie, and my father from Thomazeau. They were not wealthy, but they were very strict with me about ethics ‒ knowing what is morally right and wrong. I had some great times as a child and some incredible moments with my parents. I can still remember everything about them to this day.
Nevertheless, during my youth, I was very fascinated to learn from others in diverse industries. This type of curiosity guides my path. In 2004, I made some significant moves. From 2008 to 2010, I became more involved in business, self-learning, motivation, and network marketing. In 2016, I realized that I could influence my peers, and therefore started to learn more about being an influential person and began sharing all that I’ve learned with my peers. I am also a father of a beautiful seven-year-old girl, Anoucha Jophanie Homelus.
Tell us about your business coaching?
I have served as a consultant and advisor for many, and my ultimate goal is to guide and provide inspirational tools to over 10 Million people in Haiti and abroad. Additionally, I am putting together a team, so I can be more efficient in offering my services to my community.
Do you think your professional background play a role in this? Please explain.
Yes and no. Yes, because as an IT Specialist, I can provide technical assistance to professionals in different sectors which allow me to meet more people. Also, no, because I have met a lot of other professionals, more experienced than myself and they are not interested at all in financial literacy, influence, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
I believe that at any given time we can all face situations that will force us to think bigger or require quick thinking as the kind of flashlight; in those situations, we can either wake up and move or keep sleeping. Me, I woke up in my sleep and engage in self-learning. Hence, I have so much compassion for those who have yet to wake up from their sleep.
What are you currently working on?
This is a great question! To respond, I recall my daily habits of writing my dreams and goals. Sometimes twice a day ‒immediately when I wake up and before I go to bed at night. Thus, I can share my long-term goal with you because my everyday activity revolves around them, which includes writing a book, launching a personal and business blog and podcast, a digital radio/tv show, digital webinars with partners, and becoming top earners in my current network marketing company.
Tell us about the Facebook lives and Homelus Fan Page?
I do the Facebook lives through my personal Facebook page, and that came from a desire to do a traditional radio show. However, when I contacted some people, I received some NOs and sometimes no replies at all. One day, while thinking about how to inspire others, I started posting videos and recently some Facebook lives. It has been two years now since I started this journey. I currently hold over 100 Facebook lives per month, and I have encountered many challenges.
The goal is to have a Digital TV/Radio show, broadcasting 24/7 content on leadership, entrepreneurship, business, motivation, money, network marketing, family, inspirational content so people can take their responsibility in changing the paradigm to reach their full potential. Keep in mind, I will not be speaking on traditional topics regarding religion and politics, there is so much confusion in those fields, and I would prefer not to tackle these subjects.
For my Homelus Fan page, I am relaunching it with constant content, with a more structured platform and a new team. This has led me to start a 30-day challenge where I meet a person every day who is doing something positive in their community, and I perform a live Facebook interview with them.
What have you learned since starting using these platforms to share your knowledge?
I have learned quite a few things but let me point this for now: everybody has gone through their own experiences. From those experiences, mostly the bad ones, some fear of moving forward, some will live with anger. At the same time, you will find those who will have more love, compassion and willingness to learn from their experiences, to share what they have learned with others to guide and to inspire their surroundings.
What are some of your biggest regrets and achievements?
Biggest regret: All business decisions I was afraid to make, like going public and stay private and comfortable.
Most significant achievement: my daughter, yes, I love her! Also, of course, the willingness to go public, to trust my gut, to go outside of my comfort zone, to learn more about personal finance and self-development, and to share my knowledge with others.
What are some of the trends in business you see happening in Haiti right now?
There are quite a few trends to cite a few such as Digital marketing, blogging, photography, and tourism.
When you are not coaching, where would we find you?
You can find me working on my projects, or I might be on my 9 to 5 or working on my social activities.
What would be a message for Haitian millennials in Haiti and abroad?
You are the sons and daughters of Haiti, and now you live in a different community (in Haiti or any country which has welcomed you), don’t be comfortable. Focus on your growth. Be passionate to learn. Be willing to share and inspire others. Pay attention to your surroundings, are you growing? Is your community part of this growth? Be open to entrepreneurship and have a strong desire to solve your problems. Many others have overcome their obstacles, and so can you. You have to wake up, search and learn how to do things and move on. Seek for a real coach and get some mentors (not mom and dad or a family member), learn to be relentless, and never give up on your quest to achieve your dreams.
