How To Keep It Real This Christmas
We can’t hide it anymore, Christmas is just a few days away. Some of us are still browsing for the right gift, the right outfit for the upcoming parties, or where will we be for Christmas dinner. It could be a chaotic time. Thus, we have to understand that we can not make everyone happy. We still need to keep our calm and normal despite the does and don’ts society is commanding us. So how do you keep it real in a time like this?

Keep your normal. There are quite a few norms and rituals that most of us believe that we should keep during Christmas. I’m not saying you should be like the Kranks and try to skip Christmas. But, you don’t need to go overboard if you can’t either. Don’t let society guides you this time. Only do things that are within your reach. You know what I mean. No need to try to please everyone. Do what you can. That’s all.
About the gifts. What about the gifts? Let me enlighten you. I know you might still be juggling around or waiting for your last check before Christmas to grab something for everyone. Remember…just keep it real. Don’t spend too much. I know you appreciate everyone and you would love to show this appreciation with a gift, but avoid spending what you can’t afford. Because you will be hit with that Credit card bill if you charge the extra gifts on that Credit card. Be aware friends!
Share a story. I use Christmas as an opportunity to speak about Jesus around the table with friends and families. Especially the little ones as this is a good occasion to grab their attention on the fact that Christmas is not just about the gifts. I can explain to them the true meaning of Christmas. “True religion does not break the bonds of family relationship.” Whether it’s sharing about Jesus’ birth or about the old days, we deserve to hear something to lift our spirit.
Be thankful. We are celebrating Christmas the last week of the year. That is something to celebrate. I don’t know for you, but I am certain that I will see the last second of 2017. And you should have the same assurance too! This is the time to thank God, first, for another year, and of course, we could send few text messages or make some phone calls to express our gratitude to our loved ones and family. A heart of thankfulness attracts more blessings. Show your gratitude anyway you could.
Another year is about to start. Start fresh and start with a grateful heart. Keep it real at all times, and you will certainly experience a better version of yourself.
Now let’s celebrate Christmas!
