This Month I’m Reading SOAR!: Build Your Vision From The Ground Up By T.D. Jakes
This is not intended to be a review of the book.
In my quest to read at least one book per month, this month my good friend loaned me one of his favorites. SOAR!: Build Your Vision from the Ground Up, written by T.D. Jakes, is one of those books that provide a little bit of it all when it comes to best practices of applications as a new entrepreneur or business owner. I am certain veterans in the business world could undoubtedly acquire some new knowledge as well; hence, I am keen to encourage all new and inspiring entrepreneurs to read this book.
The book is filled with wisdom, financial advice, personal and professional tactics to soar in any endeavors. I am convinced we all need the assistance of others with all type of talents to succeed in life. We need people to inspire us, to teach us, to challenge us to explore new things as much as we need the appropriate tools and gadgets to help us do things better. This book provides just that.
The book is divided into four parts with three chapters in each section. TD Jakes uses an airplane as a metaphor to provide its business acumen to the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders.
Allow me to share with you few quotes I have retained from the book with the hope that you too find them worth retaining and useful as you build your business or the next big thing you are working on.
“Wisdom necessitates that you consider how much of both time and money you can invest in your dream as you carefully contemplate what is realistically available to you.”
“You have to start where you are. Modify your strategy to fit your realities.”
“Even when you have both wings of inspiration and innovation together to harness the wind beneath them, you will soon discover that it takes practice to fly.”
“If you allow yourself perched on the edge of life’s nest, afraid to test your wings, then you risk missing out on becoming the person God made you be.”
“Your business plan is the foundation for avoiding stress in your life…your plan will need frequent updates, tweaks, and revisions as you maintain and adapt to changing environmental conditions.”
“Sometimes your adversaries can become your greatest allies.”
“Ideally, every new entrepreneur would enjoy the benefit of three different kinds of ground crew members: supporters, advisers, and mentors.”
“If you’re trying to do everything your business requires, then you’re guaranteed to crash and burn.”
“If you can’t afford to lose your investment, then you need to wait until you have saved enough to stake your business properly.”
“Growth requires dynamic change.”
“You see, failure can always be mitigated if you’re willing to change both your attitude and your perspective on the catalyst driving your fears.”
“On business just as in life, time is our most precious commodity -irreplaceable and irretrievable.”
“f you want God to bless your efforts and transform your innovation into an inheritance, then you must keep the faith and do the work.”
Eagles dont fly with pigeons…nice topic, often poeple misubterstood the meaning of being friend according to me.
An old women told me: A ship is suppoded to be something to take you to places whatever it is friendship, relationship, entrepreneurship, companionship, etc…
Choose wisely your squad.
