5 Ways To Make Your Week A Productive One
If you know me well, you would know that I always plan my days, my weeks, better yet, my whole year is scheduled on my phone calendar app. I always tell people —when they invite me to something— “hold on, I got to check my calendar.” So, I am big in planning. I even add my evening readings on my calendar app.
What’s that about? Well, when you plan things, it forces you to do what you plan to do. Visualize your activities make them more achievable. It stimulates your mind to get it done. It pushes your brains to act upon it.
Ever since I start scheduling my activities, I become more determined, more focused, and more productive in achieving my undertakings. But, there’s more to planning. See the list below on how you too can make your weeks productive.
Plan your Week ahead. My consistent Coach always encourages us —tribe members— to plan on Sundays. She is sure right about that! Sunday is what I call the baby brother of Monday. With that said, you plan your week on Sundays. Planning your week gives you peace of mind. You do not have to keep juggling around about what to do next throughout the week. You have a clear guide on when to achieve each item from your list ensuring that your weekly actionable steps are completed. Planning allows you to focus on one thing at a time and you don’t have to keep remembering what’s next. You can just check your calendar after each thing you do.
Wake up early every day. Well, perhaps not on the weekends. Hence, waking up early gives me time to meditate, read on the news headlines, check out the weather, say few words in prayer, check out my bank accounts, and do a 7-minute-long stretching /yoga. I prepare breakfast, read some more motivational and personal finance articles, and then head out to do whatever I got to do for the day. Would you wake up late like 10 am to 11 am, in a snap of a finger, the day is gone. Try to wake up in the middle of the day and see what happens. Nevertheless, the earlier you’re awake, you built that energy to tackle your doings with more vivacity and a hey, you feel more alive.
Get a good night sleep every night. Research has shown that adding more sleep to your routine will greatly benefit you. I need my 8-hour sleep time to function daily. If you go to sleep late and expect to wake up early, it’s not going to work. You will be tired, sleepy, feeling blah, etc. Thus, you will not be able to get anything done because your body needs rest. Imagine, for instance; you put gas on your car when it’s low on fuel, right?. Also, to do that, you need to turn off the engine, and pump off gas –or for electric cars, you’d need to charge it off. The same thing for us as humans, we need to stop. Rest. And Recharge. That’s the purpose of sleep people.
Review your week. This is something that some of us don’t focus on. A company or side gig will not thrive if you don’t take time to review. See what has worked. What did not. What can you change next time. Also, what needs to be implemented. I know you probably put more effort on quarterly reviews; nonetheless, your weekly plans will also need to be reviewed because you might have skipped one item on your planner. Reviewing your week gives more clarity for future planning. Perhaps you might realize you need to allocate more time for one item next week, or you could do one thing in a less amount of time. Alternatively, you could review to see if you didn’t’ forget to attend an event and whom you need to follow-up with if you have participated at a particular outing. So Start reviewing your weeks, folks.
Celebrate your wins. Yes! Yes! Those Yes-Lord-I-made-it moments that occur throughout the week. Those small achievements that happen. You did it! So you should celebrate. If your crew doesn’t want to join, that’s fine. Hit that old-time friend you have not seeing for a while. Catch up on the latest activities you both were doing. Then again, you can stay at home too and invite your friends over. Chat over wine or cocktails, or watch the most recent movies on Netflix. Laugh out loud. Order in. Or dance on the latest pop hits. For real, bring some laughs to your life. Share your wins with your crew, your tribe, or any other folks who have been encouraging you through the process. Be aware, don’t brag, nope please don’t. Would you share your story on the gram or twit it, please provide some wisdom, advice, or words of encouragement after you share your story.
There you have it. Feel free to add anything else that you know will make your week a fruitful one. Use these tips this week and repeat. I’m telling you, your week will never be the same once you start applying these tips.

Great tips! I have been doing online meetings since March and learned more from your post. Very important to be present virtually and be comfortable – this phase may last longer than we may hope…

This is something I really need to read. I always get confused what to do or what not to do during my virtual team meeting.
Voice projection is so important, and clear dictation as well. When i was drama we practiced this for hours so we could be heard all the way to back of the auditorium without a microphone, but at the same time we were not yelling, only projecting our voices. There is an art to it.
Clear dictation, Yes yes! Thank you Jen😀
Good advice! I used Zoom with my students at the end of the year and became very conscious of several of these.
