Haitian-Businesses Leadership Brunch: Change The Narrative Of Haiti

These days I am waiting where the next Haitian networking event is going to be held, so I can make an appearance. Well, not just an appearance. I’m learning and networking. And that’s definitely not the person I was a year ago. My goal is to certainly participate in highlighting professionals who are changing the narrative of Haiti around at home and abroad.

I am sure most people are now aware of the vulgar slur vocabularies recently used to describe my mother land Haiti, this does not stop us –Haitians— to celebrate Haiti and Haitians for their strength and resilience. Haitians around the globe are taking stance to shutting down government officials who are utilizing destructive expressions to describe Haiti.

Meanwhile, the Haitian Businesses company kicking of the year with a Leadership Brunch in Brooklyn, NY last Sunday. Many respective professionals in the Haitian community make it in attendance along with special guest the Honorary Ambassador of Haiti to the U.S., Paul Altidor.

The goal of the event was to provide an atmosphere for networking with fellow Haitian professionals and entrepreneurs.

Some positive and non-destructive statements some of the guest speakers have left us with.

  • We shouldn’t wait for January 1st, May 18th, and some other dates to talk about Haiti. This is something that should be done at all times. (Guerline)

  • To do business in Haiti as an entrepreneur you can partner with other entrepreneurs already doing business in Haiti. Don’t start alone. Find a support system. (Marie)
