Give Now And Give Generously
I was born in a society that doesn’t support community giving. We do give though, but not as other communities do. We always talk about working in togetherness, however, we tend to not practice travay nan tèt ansanm at all.
Living in America has led me to develop a sense of both giving and working in togetherness. I wouldn’t want to preach something to others that I myself was not practicing. I certainly want to focus on doing both.
For many people, they want to share while expecting more and more in return. Does it have to be that way? I don’t believe it does. And so you shouldn’t believe so either. We should share without expecting any reward in return.
The Bible says: you reap what you sow. So this Thanksgiving season, plant goodness, so you can reap greatness –and without expectations of anything in return. My mother has taught me not to anticipate payments whenever I do something good for someone, and she has a point. Often times, the one person you do good for, is not the person who pays you back with goodness. You usually get the repayment from someone else and in another form.
As you sit around the table for Thanksgiving, be aware that you are sharing with someone else. Whether it’s a good laugh, some good food, or just the wine, it’s all about sharing.
No matter who you are and what you do, seek out opportunities to help others. Help others find joy. Help others thrive. Help others achieve their dreams. Help others with a smile. Help others with just one word. The combination of a kind word and a bright smile can change someone’s day.
Remember, when you share what you have, you are multiplying your assets in ways that you could never imagine. And when you withhold your goods so tight that you can’t even share, that will diminish your wealth.
Even if you think you don’t have enough, whether tangible or intangible, share something today with someone.
Happy Thanksgiving and continue to share!
