Know Your True Value
Some people just don’t know their true value. They end up doing things that they were never meant to do. Or simply they are not fully utilizing their capabilities at the level they could have. Imagine trying so hard to study a discipline that keeps failing you. Or imagine working in a field that you have no interest in. You easily lose interest, lose focus, working with no creativity and no interest. Sound like those people who just work in a field for the cash, but hate their field of work. Hope that’s not you.
Many scholars have revealed the potential benefits of working and doing something that you enjoy to do. A bit of career advice though, don’t choose a career because of the money. You will regret it. You want to work in a field that serves your interest (first), and where you are fully utilizing your potentials (second).
In this sense, how do you evaluate your true value, your potential, and your capabilities, so you do things within your competence level?
First, you need to know who you are. The best way to do that is to ask some questions like who am I? What is my purpose? What are my strengths? What do I like? What are my weaknesses? After a thorough understanding of yourself as you answer the latter questions, you will have an idea of what exactly you want to do, what you can do, and where you want to be in life. Dr. Myles Monroe analyzes this subject in depth through different segments. I highly encourage you to read some of his materials if you want to learn more about this topic.
Have you ever seen those people who never advance in life? Well, I have. Don’t be one of them.
It’s all about knowing yourself. It’s not magic. Now if you have been stuck for a while not knowing what to do with your life, it’s time to take a step forward and get out of your bubble. Sit down, take a deep breath, drink some water, and use your writing gadgets to write your answers from the questions above. And definitely go deeper with some more questions.
